my baby’s car seat doesn’t seem steady?
i was going somewhere with my mom and 3-month-old aughter today and my mom was driving my car, and i noticed my baby’s carseat nearly flipped over when my mom was driving a little fast around this curvy road1 I freaked out practically. It’s the graco kind where the carrier is detachable. i am so scared to drive her now. is it okay to just take the booster/framework part out and just have the car seat detachable carrier with my car’s seat belt fastened across it? Is that just as safe?
also, it’s placed in the backseat behind the passenger’s side, is that okay?

I actually just went to my local fire station and had then check my daughter (22mo) car seat because I could move it back and forth. Now, it’s as tight as it could possibly be.
Also, while behind the passengers seat is fine, it’s actually safer to have them in the middle of the backseat. Mostly because they are father away if the windows shatter…..and if you were ever broadsided.
yup just go to a fire station and they will put the seat in correctly for you. i had a car seat like that too and i had to get it adjusted because i just couldn’t get it tight enough to sit still.
do it for your babys safety.
Maybe you don’t have the car seat in tight enough? Did you put your knee in the car seat while tightening the buckle?
From what you described it sounds like the car seat is loose.
You should take the car seat to any fire station and have them check to make sure it’s properly installed.
The ‘booster/freamework’ your describing sounds like ‘the base.’ .. my son’s infant car seat came with a base, and it did not connect to the seat belts without the ‘base.’
DO NOT remove anything that came with the car seat as long as it’s rear facing.
Back seat behind the passenger side is fine.
I found going to the fire station to get the seat installed/checked was extremely helpful. It doesn’t take very long at all, and could mean a safer ride for your baby.
Take it to one of those places that fits the seats because mine was a little wobbly and I took it there and the guy fitted an extra metal piece to the seat belt and voila it was tight and he just charged me a little extra, most mechanics will be able to do it as well, and there are fitting stations too, your manual where you bought your seat from will have it on there.
I would have it fitted by a professional. I had mine done by a professional seat fitter and it has given me peace of mind. They know how tight to pull straps, position etc. I have mine on the passenger side which is the side of the foot path.If it feels loose get it looked into, you will fell terrible if something goes wrong.
yes that is perfectly safe .. and i always think that the safest place for a baby is in the middle seat..
I would take the car with the car seat to a local fire station and ask the guys to check it out. Here they offer the service and are glad to tighten it or position it properly. I am sure that firemen across the country do this gladly. They never will charge and they would rather help you than respond to an injured baby. Without actually seeing the seat and the car, it’s going to be really hard to help you with this.
thats exactly what mine had done too she was in the center with the base and she flipped over when i had turned and it was a really slow turn. so i moved her to the passenger side in the back and she seemed fine. i dont even use the base nemore i just put the belt thru the holes on the top which is more like a lap belt to her.. and i have the graco also i wonder if its just theirs?
